Current Times (2016)
An interactive performance inside two adjacent window displays that features a live person next to their digital self.
Current Times allows an observation on Homo Sapiens in their habitat and on their ways of communications in the digital age. The live human is housed within a public enclosure and can only communicate with the outside world through their digital self.
This is a social commentary exploring the current state of human communication, where we exist in a physical world yet are trapped in the digital world, only to communicate to the outside through digital devices.
Current Times was shown from November 11 through 13, 2016 as part of an exhibition around the theme of time at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
It was created through a collaboration with Angela Perrone, Lindsey Johnson and Michelle Hessel.
